José M. Castellón, Jr.
José has passion for helping others and a successful history coaching and mentoring colleagues, leaders, and employees over his professional career. His unique background makes him an ideal coach for professionals just starting out, and those more established in their careers.
He is a seasoned aerospace engineer and leader with 42+ years of experience working with and leading engineering teams to develop advanced satellites, aircraft, and other technologies. This broad experience provided him opportunities to work with a wide range of professionals from early-career to senior leaders. He understands and develops coaching strategies to improve individual and team dynamics and focus on people, championing their career and personal development.
José is currently a senior director implementing a technical talent development strategy for 9,000+ engineers. He fosters a culture of learning aligned with a variety of engineering disciplines, career paths, and growth aspirations, preparing people to support current programs and new pursuits.
A proven champion of DE&I, José founded and led his company’s Hispanic/Latinx employee resource group, which was the organization’s first enterprise-wide, all-volunteer ERG. He is a former DE&I director for a 20,000-employee operating unit, driving strategies to increase diverse leadership representation, foster an inclusive workplace, and develop a culture of belonging.
He has a strong passion for STEM outreach, engaging with programs that support underrepresented communities. He is a board member for two nonprofits, both encouraging STEM careers and development in underrepresented communities.
José has a Bachelor of Science in Engineering from California State University, Northridge, and a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University. He has certificate degrees from UCLA in Astronautical Engineering and the Anderson Business School’s Executive Program. José is a Certified Professional Diversity Coach and is working toward his International Coaching Certification.
José is married with two sons, a stepdaughter, and two dogs.
